You know the items you have laying around taking up space, but are too sentimental to throw away? Or the boxes full of toys your kids don’t play with anymore? What about the mountains of paperwork that are too important to get rid of? And the never ending rack of clothes that you don’t wear, or wear that often? Oh, and don’t get me started on the piles of stuff husbands leave around the house! If you find yourself glaring at any (or all!) of those things, then this episode is for you. I am talking about the 5 Things That Are hard to Declutter. We all have those areas in our life + I am here to walk you through how to declutter them. Clutter takes up time, so let’s declutter so we can have more time!

As busy mom’s, we are in the hardest season when it comes to sex. We are exhausted majority of the time, we don’t feel sexy because things are leaking, we are being pulled on all day, and if we are being honest, sex isn’t our priority. We want it, but our bodies are too tired to do it. But sex isn’t just going to happen if we are waiting for it to happen. It has to be something that we start looking forward to. We need to have a different attitude and tell our bodies what to feel instead of waiting for our bodies to feel something.

In this episode, I am excited to sit down with Sheila Wray Gregoire to discuss Prioritizing Sex In Your Marriage. This episode is not light + it is not for tiny ears. We are talking about a lot of adult and marriage things. So, pop your headphones in and enjoy this episode alone! Make some space for yourself and enjoy!

There’s this perfectionism that Pinterest and Instagram have brought into our society. And from that, there is this idea that if you change your mind, it looks like you are a mess. But, life is so crazy. Things are so stressful. Things change and flow all of the time. Seasons ebb and flow which means how you operate in those seasons sometimes changes. It is about saying “no” to what isn’t working and saying “yes” to what is. Do what works for you. Pursue what your version of less and your version of joy is in this season. It’s OK to change your mind!

Although Prioritizing Date Night seems like an episode that might be helpful before Valentine’s Day, I purposely waited until after because I believe date night is all of the time.  It shouldn’t be something that is focused on once a year. Date night is an investment. And what you choose to invest in is important. Being busy, having kids, and not being able to get away are not excuses. Choose to prioritize date night with your spouse - it is worth it!

As moms, specifically SAHM moms, are we doing full hair & makeup every single day?  No, not necessarily.  But we can get in better rhythms and habits and make ourselves our priority.  Because if we are making ourselves a priority and making ourselves up a little bit, we will feel better about ourselves. It may seem a bit silly talking about hair and makeup for yourself.  But it makes a huge difference throughout the decisions in the rest of your day when you start your day off feeling good about yourself.

Jaime McLaughlin is a hair + makeup professional who runs themachouseblog.com. She is also a mom to 4 little ones, so her life is quite busy! She has mastered how to simplify your hair + makeup routine as a busy mom. She is a well of wisdom in this area. And she is amazing, lovely, and so skilled! You are in for a treat this episode!

Allie is joined by her husband, Brian to discuss Cultivating Friendship in Your Marriage. Any couple can cultivate a friendship with a little work. Marriage is already work, so why not focus on working to be friends with your spouse. How do friends act? What do they do for each other? How are they with each other?  They go out for coffee. They talk about their day with one another. They intentionally spend time together in order to learn more about each other. If you are like this with a friend, why should you marriage be any different? That is your best friend!

Allie + Brian get it. Life happens. Things happen. When you have friendship in your marriage, it is such a great “fall back” to know you have your best friend by your side for the worst situations, scariest nights, and stressful days.

Taking Care of Yourself is talked about a lot in our culture today, but I don’t think we are truly taking action on it. I think it is hard for us to do that. We are taking care of so many other people all the time that we forget that we matter. Our tanks get low, close to empty. We get snarky, cranky, fussy. It’s because your well is empty. You can not pull up fresh, hydrating water that your family needs from you if that well is bone dry. You have to take care of yourself and restore yourself.

Instead of always working on yourself in a way that has you focusing on your flaws and mistakes and what you need to change or be better at, shift your focus to what you are good at. In focusing on that, you will discover who you are and what restores your energy. Once you know those things, you can compile a list of ways that you can begin taking care of yourself.

Need help forming that list? I got you! You can download my Self-Care Ideas for Busy Moms for FREE!

Being an Action Taking Problem Solving mom is about identifying the problems and taking action on them. It is writing out the issues and finding solutions for them.

Louise Hay says, “I do not fix my problems. I fix my thinking, then my problems fix themselves.”

When something is a problem in my life and I notice it is consistently a problem, I won’t just leave it. I won’t just wish that it would change or put it in the back of my head to figure it out later.  I will take action on it. Write it out and problem-solve.

You have so much power as a mom. You can choose to change your thinking.  Fix your thinking. Change your mindset. Get into a place of positivity. Of being an action-taking, problem-solving mom and a lot of things are going to shift.

In this episode, Brian joins Allie to talk about how they remain so close and keep intimacy alive, even with one thousand children.

With February, the month of love, right around the corner, the topic will largely circle around love, intimacy and marriage. However, this particular episode comes from the many questions Allie receives from her followers.

People often ask how Allie and Brian remain to be so close and connected.

The biggest thing to remember is that in order to feel close and connected to your significant other, you have to stop putting your intimacy on the back burner, putting it off until after you care for your kids. You need to keep the fire burning all day long, so that when night arrives, you’re happy to spend time together.

(We’ll be discussing grown-up things in this episode, so be sure to pop your headphones in to listen.)

On today’s episode of The Purpose Show, we have Jenn Baxter, the founder of Live a F.A.S.T. Life, and author of a new book called Live a F.A.S.T. Life.

Jenn’s mission to live a F.a.s.t. (F.a.s.t. = Fabulous, Abundant, Simple, and Tiny) life began after her mom past away back in 2013. Her mom was a worrier by trade, and spent the better part of her 73 years holding back in life because of fear. Jenn knew that she didn’t want to end up the same way, and that she wanted to live her life with a little extra oomph!

Jenn set out to live a life that was fabulous and abundant. She wanted to get back to the basics of what really mattered, friends, family, helping others and experiencing life while you can.

She emptied her home of all toxic products that were slowly making her sick, cleaned up her diet, downsized her belongings and moved into a purple tiny house on wheels called “Sweet Caroline.”

Now, life is less about getting more and all about DOING more.

Join Allie and Jenn as they dig into the muck and the mire, so that you can live a lighter, simpler and fuller life.

Creating a family mission statement is a really great way to lay the foundation for what your purpose is as a family. It outlines the things you stand for and things you don’t.

A family mission statement is exactly what it sounds like, an intentional statement that you make together with your family. It encapsulates your priorities and your goals as a family.

When parenting gets tricky, and your kids start getting older, it’s a really great way to have something to go back to and compare things with. Your family is going to be raised, and your kids are going to grow and become adults, setting a solid foundation with a family mission statement, can help keep you all focused on your family goals.

Today’s topic is something that I’ve been asked a lot about, but it’s something that I’ve always struggled to share.

I am opening the door for the first time on a very vulnerable, difficult and now, exciting part of me and Brian’s story. It’s something that I needed to get to a certain place in my life and heart, before I was really ready to open up and share.

I’ve been feeling, for a few months, that the time is coming.

I’d even planned on writing a big blog post last year, but I kept putting it off. I kept procrastinating. Subconsciously, I just wasn’t ready to share.

However, after I ended up starting my own podcast, I felt like it was time to talk about it. It’s much easier for me to share this with my voice rather than trying to find the right words in writing...

This is the story of the start of my business. How a little hobby blog, that I kept in the quiet, late night hours, while waiting for my husband to get home from a job that he hated, and how it was so difficult for us because we were barely getting by.

This is how this little blog turned into a global empire and saved our family and got my husband out of his 9 to 5.

I get asked about capsule wardrobes A LOT.

People watch my Instagram Stories or see photos of me on the blog and say things like, "I see you wearing lots of different things. It seems like you have a lot of clothes. How do you deal with that?" So, I just wanted to address it directly!

I am a person who loves getting dressed. I love clothes, my wardrobe and having options. Being creative in this way adds to my joy! For me, that is a part of an abundant life. Choosing my clothes each morning brings more joy into my daily life.

Let this episode be a message of freedom for you. Let this be permission to make minimalism work for you and bring you joy. Let this give you permission to let go of the junk that is just not serving you, that is holding you back, and taking up your time.

Let this be permission to have what brings you incredible joy and makes you love your life and your house more. I hope this makes sense and that this clears up some of your questions!

Words can be an incredible way of bringing positivity into your life and the life of your children.

I’ve always been drawn to words. I can remember as a child and now as an adult looking back and realizing how special this was. I literally had a relationship with words. I’d make up stories. I’d take classic fairy tales and rewrite them into my own versions, I just loved being surrounded by words.

Words have always just been a really powerful passion in my life.

The other side of words are that they can slice deep, especially in marriage. Any flaw you have, is magnified 1000% in marriage. So, while words have been a crazy positive gift for me, they’ve also been a weakness.

However, it is most important to me to use words in a positive way. Words have shaped some circumstances of my life, and in today’s episode I want to share a how effective words have been in changing the behavior of my children.

Having a morning ritual can completely change the flow of your day. Some morning rituals are all about productivity, getting things done before the kids wake-up, and others are more about self-care.

There is no right or wrong when you create your routine, it all depends on what season of life that you are in.

My morning ritual began when my husband was still working outside the home, as a way to build and grow my business. Since that time so much has changed in my life, I had a period of time where I’d jump out of bed and get started on my tasks for the day, but I am at a point now where being able to deeply focus on myself and self-care will be more beneficial to my day.

One last note, I used to be a night owl, but I knew how much more purposeful my days would be if I began rising her earlier. It was a process, but it was worth putting the effort in to switch to a early bird.

In today’s episode, we’re going to go deep into how we can treat our body with more love and gratitude.

It is common for many moms to not even acknowledge or care for themselves, and I believe we need to change that. We need to be grateful for all of the things ours amazing bodies can do.

The size of our bodies is unimportant, what matters is that you are caring for it in a way that makes you feel good inside and out.

I hope you’ll join me, and listen as I call for all women to love the bodies that God gave them, more!

Happy New Year!

In this episode, I’m taking you deep inside the exact goal setting process that I use to make and achieve massive goals.

I frequently get asked how I am able to achieve so much in such a short amount of time, but there’s no secret. Anybody can make their dreams a reality, you just need to set goals the “right way.” Then, begin taking action to achieve whatever it is you want, by being a woman of intent.

So, I’d love it you’d join me with a cup of coffee (or tea if that’s your thing) and enjoy this (MY FIRST!) episode of The Purpose Show.
